Shar Pei Dogs Available for Adoption in Lake Forest, California

Say Hello to Oso, our friendly little brown "bear!" He is a gorgeous chocolate brushcoat Shar Pei with the heart of a big, loveable goober.

He adores other dogs and is happiest sharing his bed, toys, food and just about everything else with his canine buddies.

If you are looking for privacy? Oso may not be your guy. This boy wants to be your shadow, whether you're in the bathroom, shower, bedroom and anywhere else you thought you might be alone!

He will crate, but he is not a fan and will sing a song to his people in hopes of being released asap from his doggy jail. His foster mom is allowing him to roam loose when she leaves for work and he can be found napping in between checking the door to see if its finally time for her to come home. Because Oso is so people and dog-oriented, we think he woud do best in a home with another friendly dog to help prevent separation anxiety.

He has been a bit unsure around men, though his foster mom says that may simply be because he's an excellent judge of character.

Oso loves giving kisses and is incredibly treat motivated. Right now he knows exactly zero obedience commands, but with patience, consistency, and plenty of snacks, this smart boy will be sitting like a pro in no time.

He has been neutered, entropion surgery, and vaccinated. He will be seen by our local vet for comprehensive labwork as well prior to adoption

He is fostering in the Phoenix area

The Shar Pei is a distinctive breed known for their deep wrinkles and blue black tongue. Originally from China, these medium sized dogs are loyal, independent, and protective of their families. Shar Peis have a unique appearance with a hippopotamus like face and a broad, padded muzzle. Their coat can be either horse coat or brush coat, coming in a variety of colors. While they can be aloof with strangers, Shar Peis are devoted companions with a calm demeanor, making them wonderful family pets.
