Shar Pei Dogs Available for Adoption in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Cheddar is just the cutest! He has adorable button ears and a big nose. The shelter thought he looked like a Shar Pei mix. He is 30 lbs and on the smaller side and 2 years old. He is super lovable and friendly. He loves pets. He is house-trained and kennel-trained. He does really well with other dogs.

He came in with two other dogs as strays, and they all looked very similar. One was a little shorter and closer to 20 lbs.

The Shar Pei is a distinctive breed known for their deep wrinkles and blue black tongue. Originally from China, these medium sized dogs are loyal, independent, and protective of their families. Shar Peis have a unique appearance with a hippopotamus like face and a broad, padded muzzle. Their coat can be either horse coat or brush coat, coming in a variety of colors. While they can be aloof with strangers, Shar Peis are devoted companions with a calm demeanor, making them wonderful family pets.
