SAY HELLO TO RIPLEY

4-year-old Ripley was found as a stray on the streets of Los Angeles. After spending time in a shelter, he made his way to Pug Nation LA, where he was lovingly cared for before hopping aboard the Pumba’s Paws Pet Transportation Bus on its maiden voyage in late April. Since arriving in foster care, Ripley has made great strides adjusting to home life—and he’s officially ready for his hot boy summer!

Ripley is friendly, charming, and loves meeting new people. He has, however, clearly chosen his foster dad as his person, forming a quick and close bond. Because of this, he can become anxious when left alone. We’re hopeful that as he continues to decompress and settles into a stable, loving home, his separation anxiety will improve.

For now, crating is recommended when he’s left alone—especially since he’s been caught on camera “surfing” across the room on an office chair in search of his dad! He may also help himself to shoes or other treasures if given the opportunity. The good news? Ripley settles nicely in his crate with a treat and a cozy blanket (cue the tears), and a peanut-butter-filled Kong works wonders for keeping him occupied.

Ripley has a big personality and matching energy—think bull in a china shop meets Tigger. His petite, older foster sister sometimes isn’t quite ready for his enthusiastic play style, so he would do best with a medium- to large-sized dog who can keep up with him. He hasn’t been cat-tested, but he has met children and has been calm, gentle, and happy to receive pets.

Health & Care

Ripley is in good overall health. His left eye is atrophied (very small and barely visible), but it does not currently cause him pain or issues. It may require monitoring over time, and occasional gentle cleaning is needed to remove minor discharge.

He’s a very cooperative pup for care—he tolerates baths well and even lets you wipe his paws after coming in from the rain. Ripley was previously on a short course of trazodone while adjusting to busy environments but has since been weaned off and is doing great.

Personality & Progress

“Rippers,” as he’s affectionately nicknamed, has made terrific progress in his foster home. His leash manners are improving, his confidence is growing, and he’s even gotten used to household sights and sounds like the TV.

He knows “sit,” “wait,” and “gentle,” loves cuddling after walks, and will happily give kisses on request. He’s affectionate, expressive, and full of life—his foster mom even caught him adorably giving her the cold shoulder after being told “no” (check the photo!).

Ripley would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise, attention, and love. He already enjoys outings to breweries, carnivals, and dog wash trips—he’s a social guy who’s ready to be part of the fun.

Who’s ready to welcome Ripley into his forever era?
