Meet Mr Mann (ACCT-A-248017)! This sweet and sensitive soul is looking for a patient home where he can truly shine. Mr Mann is a champion of affection. He is a total "leaner" who loves to press up against his human friends for pets, and he has even been known to rest his head on a lap to make sure the snuggles don't stop. Because Mr Mann is very food-motivated and can be a bit "snatchy" when it comes to his favorite snacks, he is best suited for a home with children aged 10 and older. Using an open-palm technique for treats is the best way to help him enjoy his rewards politely.
While he can be a little nervous in busy environments, he walks nicely on a loose leash and appreciates a calm, quiet path. He has also had the opportunity to meet other dog friends at the shelter; he was polite and curious during his introductions, though he ultimately feels most secure staying close to his human companion. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, and treat-loving friend, Mr Mann is ready to find his forever family!
Behavioral Notes
Per Volunteer 4/23/26:
Mr Mann is quite literally Mr Perfect :)
Mr Mann was in a top sidebank kennel, calm and social when I approached. He accepted a treat gently and permitted me to lift him up to get him out of the top kennel (he was easy to lift as he is just a dumpling boy!). He walked with ease thru the kennels and outside. He frequently checked in with me as we walked. Mr Mann was a very easy going loose leash walker. Once outside we went in the play yard - I gave him space to explore but he continued to follow by my side as I walked. If I stood still, he would auto sit without cue - I'd offer him a treat each time, which he took it gently. I solicited chase which he obliged, running after me and matching my pace, then he would stop and sit again when I stopped. I offered him toys but he had minimal interest, except for the rope toy - he very much enjoyed romping with the rope toy. He allowed me to play with him, holding the rope toy or picking it up from the ground and he remained neutral and more interested in engaging me than the toy. Mr Mann had adorable zoomies - throwing his paws high in the air and sliding about on the turf - truly so cute to watch! He met another dog, Romeo, thru the fence and was calm and neutral. Overall Mr Mann was an easy going, well-rounded and friendly pup. He also didn't show any discomfort when loud fireworks were going off or cars driving by with loud music. Mr Mann walked back inside with ease and was neutral to me lifting him back up into his kennel - he took a pb bone and laid down on his blanket as I shut the door.
Per staff 4/20:
Kennel Presentation: Laying down in his side bank playing with a stuffed toy. Came over when called to him, soft eyes, ears to the side, low tail wags. Took a treats a little snatchy through the bars.
Leash Skills: Easy to leash, once leashed came right out. Walked on a loose leash with ears pinned back, eyes darting, low still tail, tense body. Paused a few times when walking through the kennels, continued moving with some baby talk and getting lower. Once outside loosened up, low loose tail, ears back.
Sociability: Allowed all handling and leaned into pets with a low loose tail, ears to the side, closed mouth, loose body, soft eyes. Would rest his head on legs when stopped petting him. Stayed near side while in the yard. Is food motivated and is snatchy so open palm is best.
Play: Tossed a few toys, no interest.
Dog Interaction: Met Barnes, ears back, low tail, sniffed at first then remained close to his handler.
Return to Kennel: Went a quieter way on the way back, ears back, low tail, loose body, soft wider eyes. Hopped right into his kennel and laid down, leash was removed easily.
Color Level: Experienced Gold
Per staff 4/17: Brought in as a stray. Scared, but very easy to walk, friendly was wagging his tail.
