She slept in the dirt. She hid under broken objects. She learned to stay small and quiet so the world wouldn’t notice her. When rescue first stepped in, it felt like her miracle had finally arrived. But heartbreak wasn’t done with her yet. After being brought into a home, Sissy’s own siblings began to attack her. This sweet, submissive baby — who only wanted to love and be loved — suddenly had to defend herself all over again. She didn’t fight back. She didn’t understand why it was happening. She simply curled into herself and waited for someone to save her again. And someone did. Now safe with our rescue, Sissy is blossoming into the gentle, loving puppy she always was beneath the fear. She is sweet, submissive, wonderful with people, and good with other dogs who treat her kindly. Her little face is so adorable it almost hurts — the kind of face that makes you want to scoop her up and promise her that the rest of her life will be nothing like the beginning.
