Peony is a gentle, sweet, and easygoing girl who is still learning that the world isn't such a big, scary place and she's already doing a wonderful job!! She is about 90% potty trained, with just a couple of accidents as she continues building a consistent routine, and she is very well on her way to mastering it!!

In the home, Peony is an easy companion!! She is calm, quiet, and very comfortable in her crate, settling in nicely for both naps and overnight stays with no accidents!! She enjoys having her safe space and does wonderfully with downtime!!

Peony is a bit nervous in new situations, but she tries her best and improves a little more every day!! In the car, she may feel unsure at first and prefers to curl up close for reassurance but she usually relaxes and falls asleep once she feels safe!! Baths aren't her favorite, but she handles them politely without panic or drama!!

On leash, Peony is a dream no pulling, just a gentle pace!! If anything, she sometimes needs a little encouragement to keep moving as she is still building confidence in the outside world!! Walks are getting better every time as she learns that new sights and sounds are okay!!

She is very respectful in the home with no aggression and a naturally submissive, easygoing temperament!! She may peek at the counter out of curiosity, but she knows her manners and is easily redirected!!

Peony enjoys little bursts of play and energy, but at heart she is a true couch companion!! After a short walk or some gentle activity, she is happiest curling up beside her people for a long nap!! She enjoys chewing on appropriate toys, and with a bit of continued guidance, she will only get better!!

She does great with other dogs and has shown herself to be social and easy in canine company!! She has not yet been tested with cats!!

Peony would thrive in a calm, patient home that can help her continue building confidence through gentle routine, positive experiences, and reassurance!! She doesn't need a lot just someone she can trust and feel safe with as she blossoms!!

Once she settles in, Peony's soft, loving personality truly shines!! She is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart and becomes your constant, comforting shadow!!

This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason.
