Pit Bull Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption in Des Moines, Iowa

- Very sweet lady who loves people, attention and cuddles

- Loves stuffies, especially the ones that squeak, and is dedicated to freeing the squeakers

- Always excited for something new to play with

- Super smart and an expert at fetch

- Walks nicely on a leash and loves going on long walks to explore new places and smell all the smells

- Likes playing in water

- Does great in the car

- May need extra time to warm up to new people and things and will likely open up in a home environment with patience and time; may also prefer a calm, quiet home

- Can be nervous going into her crate at first, but settles down well with time

- Looking for a home where all family members are fluent in dog body language and will understand when she indicates she is uncomfortable in a situation (looking for a teens-and-up home right now)

- Can be uncomfortable and awkward around other dogs and may need some time to warm up; also may prefer some dogs over others and would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro required)

- Has been diagnosed with arthritis in both knees (more info at ARL)

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
