Meet Wesley! This young handsome lab was found wandering around the 33 as a stray and not claimed. He came into the shelter a bit unsure, and needed some time to feel comfortable in his new surroundings. Once he felt he could trust the volunteers, he decided that being out and about is so much better than being stuck in the chaos in a shelter kennel. So, now, he is ready to move on and find a place and a person to call his own!
Wesley loves his walks and is working on his leash walking skills. He will surely learn more once in a home with daily outings and consistency /guidance. He loves being free to run in the shelter yard, but his excitement gets the best of him and he can be jumpy/mouthy for attention but he is learning that he gets rewards of treats/pets of praise for 4 paws on the ground or for showing off his awesome sit. He does takes his treats gently.
He is an overall cool dude that will engage with some play bows and barks to say “hey, let go do something fun! “. We are sure he will excel once in a home with all he needs to be set up for success. He did meet some shelter dogs and can be a bit “humpy” but with proper correction, he will learn his manners. We do require a meet/greet with any resident dog in a home.
If you can give this boy a new opportunity to embrace life, come on down and meet him.
