Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Shorewood, Illinois

Meet Lady.
Lady is a petite shepherd mix, around 35 to 40 lbs, with a short coat that sheds very little. But what truly makes her special has nothing to do with her looks. It's her heart.

Before rescue, Lady spent her life chained outside with little food, little water, no shelter, and no love. Through every season, she survived on dirt and hardship while trying her best to care for her puppies. Thankfully, Lady and all of her babies were rescued and finally brought to safety.

Despite everything she's endured, Lady is one of the happiest, most loving dogs you could ever meet. She adores people, does wonderful with other dogs and cats, loves children, and greets everyone like an old friend. She is crate trained, potty trained, loves car rides, and has fully embraced her new life where she can finally run, play, and just be a dog. Watching her discover toys, soft blankets, and freedom has been nothing short of beautiful.

Now all Lady needs is the forever home she has always deserved. A family to love her endlessly, a cozy bed to call her own, and maybe a toy box overflowing just for her.

If you have previously submitted an application and received a message that your app is pending, please DM us with the name of the animal you are interested in.

Our adoption process is usually quick but may take up to two weeks. When you find an animal you are interested in, we ask that you fill out an application on our website, PawsUp4Rescue.org/adopting as a first step so we can determine if your family is a good fit for the animal. If you are, then we will contact you to arrange a time for you and your family to meet the animal so you can decide if it is a good fit. If you currently have dogs, we require them to be present at the meeting to ensure it's a good fit all around. Once compatibility is determined, we move on to the paperwork and finalize the adoption.

If the meet is not a good fit, we will keep your application on file for 6 months and will gladly consider your family for another dog.
