Hi, I'm Charlie Bones or Charles Skeleton if you're feeling fancy. Overall I'm a sweet guy who loves car rides, going on walks, and chewing on bones. I come with only 3 legs and a little baggage but if you're patient with me I promise I'll be your most loyal companion forever. I can be a distrustful on new people but have warmed up to all of the staff here. My awesome post-amputation foster mom said I can be sensitive and reactive to people, noises, and movement (especially men, sudden household sounds, and triggers on walks), and I often freeze, scan, then need gentle encouragement (treats) to keep moving.
CB shows strong interest in other dogs and may benefit from a calm canine companion, while his main ongoing needs are confidence-building, trust, and help regulating his anxiety.
1. Charlie Bones Loves:
- Bully sticks, pupsicles, marrow bones, or any other "project" chew
- Cheese and wet food
- Chasing after small squeaky toys (tennis balls are so last season )
- Snuffle mats, playing "Find It" in the grass, and easy puzzle toys
- Rolling in the grass and soaking up the sunshine
- Getting his hair brushed
- An indoor fan to sit by (I think he runs hotter because of the thick/long coat)
- Chasing bubbles
- Jogging on our walks
- Getting his left ear/side rubbed and scratched since he can't do that on his own
- Soft beds
2. Commands That CB Knows:
- Sit
- Down (he kind of knows this one)
- Drop It
- No More (foster started teaching him this one)
- Leave It
- Wait
- Okay / Let's Go (foster started teaching him this one)
