Meet Knight!

Knight has spent more than four months waiting for his person after arriving at the shelter as a stray, and through it all, he has remained a sweet, affectionate dog who loves human companionship. While shelter life has been stressful for him, Knight continues to greet familiar people with a wagging tail and enjoys spending time with those he trusts. He loves to head out on walks with volunteers and spend time resting in the shade of a tree with his head in your lap.

Knight is looking for a special home-one that understands that some dogs need a little extra support as they adjust to life outside the shelter. In a previous home environment, Knight displayed resource guarding behaviors around beds, couches, and the people he bonded with. Because of this, Knight will need an adopter who is committed to providing structure, management, and patience as he settles into his new routine.

The challenging part of Knight's story is that we do not see these behaviors in the shelter environment. Here, he is social, affectionate, and easy to handle, making it difficult to predict exactly how he will adjust in a home. What we do know is that he deserves an adopter who is willing to learn his needs, work through challenges if they arise, and celebrate the many wonderful qualities he has to offer.

Knight is not a match for homes with cats or young children. While he enjoys the company of people, he will need a household that can respect his boundaries and provide a predictable environment. He may be able to live with a calm, compatible dog companion pending a successful introduction.

Knight would likely do best with an experienced dog owner who understands canine behavior and is prepared to continue supporting him through training and routine. Our team is committed to helping set both Knight and his adopter up for success, including post-adoption support and access to training resources.

Knight has waited a long time for someone to see beyond his challenges and recognize the loyal, loving dog underneath. We know that home is out there for him-it just may take a special person willing to give him the chance he deserves.
