DESCRIPTION
Bluestem is a remarkable senior gentleman with a heart as strong as his spirit. He came into rescue last March and went into foster care, later transitioned to hospice, and has now happily proven everyone wrong by becoming adoption ready.
When Bluestem first arrived, he was in significant pain, could barely walk, and had noticeable hair loss. With the help of proper medication, soothing medicated baths, and an abundance of love from his foster and resident dogs, Bluestem made an incredible recovery. Today, he's comfortable, mobile, and enjoying life again.
Bluestem has a fused spine, so ongoing care is important. Regular, appropriate exercise and a healthy diet help keep his back strong. He can hop up and down stairs but would do best in a home where stairs are limited or avoided when possible.
In his foster home, Bluestem runs a tight ship-he likes to boss both resident and foster dogs around and takes his role as household supervisor seriously. He is dog-friendly, neutral with cats, and absolutely adores people.
Bluestem is a testament to resilience and second chances. He's ready for a loving forever home that will continue his care and appreciate his leadership skills, loyalty, and gentle senior charm.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
