Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Detroit, Michigan

BUTTERFINGER

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Detroit, Michigan
May 3rd
female, medium, young

DESCRIPTION

Butterfinger A184076
55 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old

-This sweet gal needs encouragement and time, but once she trusts you she loves being close. After time she will scoot in closer and closer!
-When I first gave her treats she took them nicely but spit them all out. A couple minutes later she went back and ate all of them and started giving tail wags. She takes them nicely and still needs work picking up "sit".
-Quick movements definitely make her nervous and she will need you to go slow and be patient!
-I tossed the tennis ball and she was very curious. Went over to where it was and started rolling around with her nose but never picked it up.
-She will give lots of kisses when she trusts you!
-She could benefit from a foster home or a patient adopter!
-She walks nicely on leash
-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

*Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

*Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

*The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
