Rio
Updated 03.23.26
Rio's journey started at Memphis Animal Services, surrendered with his six siblings by an owner who could no longer provide for them. For an older litter, that surrender was almost certainly a death sentence - but when we saw this beautiful group, we knew they deserved a chance.
We took Rio in at around 10 months old, and now at about 1 year and 3 months, he's grown into a confident, high-energy young dog with a busy mind.
On 01.31.2026, Rio headed to JK9 Training in Pittsburgh, where he has shown just how capable and driven he is. With a 50% discount, he's received roughly $4,000 worth of professional training - and it shows.
He is:
Confident and social
High-energy and driven
Crate trained
Potty trained
Well-behaved in public
Tall, lanky, and perhaps the most "mixed-up" breed of the bunch, Rio has a unique look that makes him stand out - but it's his personality that really leaves an impression.
Rio has a busy mind and a playful, lighthearted way of engaging with the world around him. He's "velcro" in his own way - staying close to his people while bringing energy, curiosity, and just the right amount of goofy to keep things fun.
DNA from a sibling shows a mix of:
38% Siberian Husky
32% German Shepherd
18% Rottweiler
5% American Pit Bull Terrier
2% Boxer
Best Fit: Rio is a high-energy, intelligent dog who thrives with structure and purpose. He needs a home that will keep him mentally and physically engaged - whether through training, enrichment, or an active lifestyle. He'll do best with a family ready to embrace both his drive and his playful personality.
