Meet Loofah!

At just 10 months old and weighing a 12 pounds, Loofah is an adorable Maltese mix with wispy white fur, expressive eyes, and the sweetest little face. She came from a breeder release situation alongside her littermates and is still discovering what it means to live life as a cherished family companion. Because she missed out on early socialization, Loofah can be nervous around people and is still learning to feel comfortable with touch and being picked up.

Though she’s timid at first, there’s a gentle and loving little personality beginning to shine through. Loofah finds the most comfort in the company of other dogs and truly blossoms when she has canine friends nearby. She would thrive in a home with a calm, confident dog who can help her feel safe and teach her that the world isn’t such a scary place.

Her favorite thing in the world? Snacks, of course! Nothing gets Loofah’s tiny tail wagging faster than mealtime or a tasty treat. Those happy little moments give a glimpse of the playful, trusting pup she’s slowly becoming.

Loofah is searching for a patient and compassionate home that will allow her to adjust at her own pace. A securely fenced yard will help her feel safe while she explores and builds confidence, and a quiet environment will give her the reassurance she needs to continue making progress.

With time, gentle encouragement, and a furry companion by her side, Loofah has all the potential to grow into a loyal and loving little dog. She may be shy now, but every day she’s learning that kindness, comfort, and love can be part of her new life.

Loofa came to us very under socialized from humans - she is scared of human touch currently. She will need an adopter that is able to provide her a safe place and help her confidence grow. For her, this may look like containing her to a smaller enclosed area in a room in the home for several days to a week - where she would have an area to potty here also - so that she can more easily and safely be picked up. She will want to run/avoid being picked up. She will also initially be a flight risk, so taking her outside to potty will not be safe for at least several weeks. Eventually, when she does fully trust you and have a strong bond with you, bringing her outside should consist of 2 leashes and tightly secured collars (with possibly a no slip harness lead) to help ensure she cannot get away.
