DESCRIPTION
Hi! My name is Lainey and I am looking for a forever home. As a puppy, I found myself in a super scary place called a shelter where everyone just ignored me. I guess in a way, I was kind of lucky in that I fell through the cracks and didn't find myself on that bad thing called "the list", but that also meants I didn't have a lot of socialization with people and what interaction I did have, wasn't nice. It was so bad, that when I was finally listed as being available for adoption, I was listed as a boy (I'm a girl!). My luck finally ran out and I was placed on that list since no one wanted to adopt a super scared dog; but then I got lucky when BCAA heard about my plight and said they would help me. I appear to be a lab mixed with something but my foster mom says it doesn't matter as I'm such a pretty girl. I am about a year old now and weigh in around 40lbs, but my foster mom thinks I need to put on several pounds which means I get extra at meal times ... yeah! When I first came into foster, I wasn't sure who I could trust but I did find a lot of comfort in the other dogs I got to meet and play with (the cats don't seem to want to play so I just ignore them). My foster parents recognized that I just need a little extra time, patience and TLC (those treats also help), and now I'm starting to learn to trust that not everyone is mean. I have done well in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of my bedding. I have actually done pretty good on a leash as I do like to go out and explore. If you might want to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
