On the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta, someone left behind a cardboard box on the street… inside were tiny puppies, only about 2 months old. Discarded like something unwanted, like they didn’t matter. But Alma did matter; this brave, adventurous little girl managed to climb out of the box, and she was just moments away from being run over when kind neighbors stepped in and reached out for help. That was when Nayeli stepped in, because some people simply cannot look away. She brought Alma and her siblings to safety, giving them a chance they never had before. They arrived weak, underweight, dirty, and covered in ticks and fleas… but they were fighters. After a visit to the vet and tests that thankfully came back negative for life-threatening diseases, they started treatment, got the care they desperately needed, and began their journey toward a new life.

Alma is about 3.5 years old, weighs around 19.5 kilos, and is a beautiful Lab mix .

This sweet and resilient girl truly enjoys being around people: adults, teenagers, and kids alike. She can be a little shy when meeting someone new, but with a bit of patience and kindness, she quickly realizes she’s safe and soon becomes your best friend. Alma gets along very well with other dogs, both medium and large. At the shelter, she is sociable and loves to play with her furry friends. When meeting new dogs outside, she might be a bit shy at first, but she warms up with time and reassurance. Alma absolutely loves car rides, as to her, every ride means a new adventure and she also enjoys going on walks, where she does well on a leash. She is past the puppy stage, so no chewing troubles, and she’s not possessive over her food, toys, or sleeping space, making her an easygoing and gentle companion. This medium energy pup would do best with a family that understands she may need a little time and patience to fully feel safe. Once she does, her loving personality truly shines.
