Let’s find Chopito his furever home!!

This boy is 100% lover. He loves being with his people and snuggling at night. He loves squeaky toys and bones. He loves playing fetch with a squeaky ball. He sleeps in his crate all night without a peep. He waits quietly in the crate in the mornings even if he hears or sees people up. No accidents in the house ever. No food aggression.

Chopito was living on the streets and his foster family quickly learned he had some separation anxiety when his people left the house and reactivity to strangers/doorbell ringing/any activity outside the home. He also always tried to dart out of the front door and got away more times than foster mom wanted to admit to.

After 8 sessions with an amazing trainer, Chopito has transformed into a new dog. He still is 100% lover, but now has developed into a more mellow and obedient dog. He is eager to please. He will need consistent training and reinforcement to keep succeeding, but foster mom is confident he will keep succeeding.

He recently stayed with another foster for a week and did great. He would do fine in a home with or without dogs. He is submissive to other dogs. He needs physical and mental activity daily. No cats.

Chopito does not like to have his collar pulled at and will often snap if taken off guard. We continue to work with him to get him used to having his collar touched, but this may be a reflex we are never able to overcome. Due to this, we want a home that does not have small children and prefer dog-savvy owners/previous fosters.

He currently is in a foster home with mom who works from home, 3 kids (ages 11, 15, 17), and 2 dogs. He loves his fenced in yard to play fetch, and has stopped climbing the wood pile to hop the fence and explore the neighborhood.
