Meet Koba (aka Kabuuu, Kabubu, Kablooey) — your future adventure buddy with a heart of gold
Koba has already come a long way from surviving on the streets of California to making his journey to New England in search of the loving home he truly deserves. Despite his rough start, this happy-go-lucky husky mix hasn't lost his spark—he's full of joy, love, and a whole lot of goofy energy.
Koba is the definition of a big, playful puppy. He absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive with a younger, similarly sized canine companion who can keep up with his bouncy, kangaroo-like play style. He's not aggressive in the slightest—just a lovable goofball who may be a bit much for smaller or older pups.
This smart boy is incredibly food motivated and eager to learn, which makes training both fun and rewarding. He's already potty trained and doing great picking up new skills—he just needs someone committed to continuing his training journey. He's currently working on polishing his leash manners and learning not to jump up when greeting people (he just gets so excited to say hi!).
Koba is wonderful with kids and has done great with a 4-year-old, but because of his size and enthusiasm, he'd be best suited for a home with slightly older children who won't be easily knocked over by his excitement.
At home, Koba is surprisingly calm when he gets his daily exercise (he is part husky, after all!). He's more of a “velcro dog” than an anxious one—he just really loves being near his people and is still learning that he's safe and won't be left behind again.
Because of his past, Koba would do best in a home where someone is around often—whether that's working from home, bringing him along during the day, or arranging doggy daycare (crate-free preferred while he builds confidence). He's still getting comfortable with crate training and will need patience and positive reinforcement.
Koba does have a bit of a prey drive—squirrels are just too tempting—so a home without cats, bunnies, or other small animals is best. And like many huskies, he's not a reliable off-leash dog, so a fenced yard would be ideal for safe playtime.
Koba's dream home:
• Active lifestyle with regular exercise
• A committed adopter to continue his training
• A home with a playful, medium-to-large dog friend (bonus!)
• Older kids who can handle his goofy energy
• No small animals
• A fenced yard preferred
• Someone around often to help him feel safe and secure
Koba is ready to leave his past behind and start his next chapter filled with love, stability, and adventure. If you're looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who will stick by your side through it all, Koba might just be your perfect match.
