HENRY

Great Pyrenees

DESCRIPTION

Henry is a sweet Great Pyrenees mix puppy who is eager to find his forever home. Everyone who meets him comments on what a handsome dog he is. He hasn’t met any children yet in his current foster home but he’s met dinner guests and neighbors and is friendly when meeting new people. He is a happy, curious pup who enjoys being around people, exploring his surroundings and playing with toys and other dogs. He also loves snuggles once he gets all of his puppy wiggles out. He currently lives with a 9 year old terrier and they do like to play chase and wrestle but Henry might like canine friends that are a little more active. Henry knows his name and the sit command. He is making good progress on potty training, coming when called and the drop command. We’ve also started working on leave it. Henry kennels pretty well. He will whine a bit but usually settles down quickly. He does not like being alone however and will protest more loudly if he’s being left alone. He currently sleeps in his kennel in his foster’s bedroom. He needs one potty break in the night right now. The timing depends on how much he’s had to drink prior to bedtime. Henry is making progress on leash walking although he still wants to treat it as a chew toy (drop works really well here) or have a doggie wrestling match mid walk. Henry is not the biggest fan of car rides yet. He gets nervous so it’s important to give him outdoor time to empty his bowels and bladder first. Henry also lives with a 16 year old cat and does try to wrestle with him so if he does go to a home with cats interactions should be supervised until he learns better manners. Henry would love a family of his own where he can continue to learn new skills, enjoy snuggles and a fenced backyard that he can explore would be a great bonus!
