Zara is a sweet, affectionate girl with a gentle heart who is looking for a patient, loving home to help her continue building confidence. Once she knows you, Zara is incredibly loyal and wants nothing more than to be near her people — whether that’s following you from room to room or quietly napping nearby.

Zara has a fun, playful side that really shines once she feels comfortable. When she sees someone she loves, she gets so excited she bounces like a kangaroo. She absolutely loves going for walks, car rides, and trips to the dog park — and just the sight of her leash will have her spinning in happy circles. She’s also a very patient girl who will happily sit for dress-up moments, whether it’s a Halloween costume or a festive sweater.

Zara has a moderate energy level. She enjoys playtime and activity, especially with other dogs, but settles nicely in the home. She would thrive with a canine companion, as she loves to play chase and wrestle and takes social cues very well from dogs of all sizes and temperaments.

She is excellent with other dogs and has done wonderfully living with multiple cats, even small kittens. Zara is gentle and respectful, and will back off appropriately if a cat isn’t interested in playing.

Zara also loves children and is very gentle when they are calm, happily allowing petting and interaction. However, when kids are running, screaming, or playing loudly, she can become overexcited and try to join in the fun by chasing or getting a bit mouthy. Because of this, she would do best in a home with older children or with supervision around younger kids.

Zara is housetrained, walks well on a leash, and rides great in the car. She has not been crated, as she does well with free roam in the home.

Zara can be shy and fearful around new people and in unfamiliar or busy environments. She may bark at strangers in the home and needs time and space to feel safe. In overwhelming situations, she may try to retreat or bolt, so continued training, patience, and secure handling will be important. With time, consistency, and a calm environment, she continues to gain confidence and show her loving personality.
