Bailey is a loving, intelligent, high-energy girl looking for a home that can give her the time, structure, and activity she truly needs to thrive. While it breaks her family’s hearts to make this decision, they know Bailey deserves an environment better suited to her energy level and needs.
Bailey is believed to be an Aussie mix at 1.5 years old and 45 lbs she absolutely has the classic Aussie personality; smart, active, playful, and eager to be involved in everything her people are doing. She loves other dogs, enjoys doggie daycare, and has even helped shy dogs come out of their shells with her playful nature. She is house trained, crate trained, up to date on vaccines, and spayed.
Bailey is incredibly affectionate and thinks she’s a lap dog despite her size. She loves cuddles, kisses, and being close to her people. She does well with children, but due to her high energy and enthusiasm, she would do best in a home with older kids. In her current home with a 1-year-old and 3-year-old, she unintentionally knocks the toddlers over during play and excitement.
Bailey is still young and has some typical puppy traits that will need continued guidance and consistency. She can be strong on leash and is also a heavy chewer, so she cannot have bedding or soft items left unattended. However, she is very smart, eager to learn, and would likely excel in activities like agility, hiking, or other active training outlets.
Her family also wants to be transparent that Bailey has shown resource guarding behaviors specifically around the mobile toddler in the home. When food, bones, or water are involved, she may growl if the child approaches and has nipped twice when he got too close. Outside of those situations, she is affectionate and loving with him, but because toddlers cannot reliably understand boundaries, her family feels it is safest and fairest to place her in a home better equipped to manage her needs. She has occasionally shown territorial behavior with visitors as well, though she is generally redirected easily.
Bailey is a bright, energetic working-breed-type dog who needs the right environment to succeed. She would thrive with an active family, experienced dog owners, or someone who understands high-drive breeds and can provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation. With structure, continued training, and the right match, Bailey has the potential to be an absolutely incredible companion.
