Good morning and meet Stan!
This sweet little French bulldog guy was surrendered to a shelter, and we were contacted to help and luckily we were able to.
Stan is estimated to be around 3 years old and and weighs just 24 pounds. So he truly is a little guy. He is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative (and yes, we ran that test twice just to be sure!), microchipped, dewormed, and on heartworm and flea prevention.
He is scheduled for April 22nd to be neutered and will also have his nare and palate surgery done at the same time to help him breathe easier, something very common and important and common for this breed.
Now let's talk about something very important when it comes to this handsome dude.
Because he is a French Bulldog, we do have a strict requirement that his adopter must have experience with the breed (or a similar breed such as an English Bulldog). These dogs are incredibly special, but they also come with unique medical and care needs. Dogs like Stan often come to us in rough condition, requiring extensive (and expensive) medical care to get them healthy again. Many times people give them up when they start truly needing medical either due to lack of breed knowledge, lack of funds to care for the breed, or both.
Once we've done everything possible to give them a fresh start, it would not be in their best interest to place them in a home without breed experience. This isn't about being exclusive and too strict, it's about setting Stan , and this breed in general, up for a lifetime of success with someone who understands how to properly care for him.
Stan is currently in a MEMPHIS foster home and will be ready for adoption once his procedures are complete and he's fully recovered.
As always, please share to help us find the perfect forever home!
