Coton De Tulear Dogs Available for Adoption in Garland, Texas

Diesel is a 7 yr old 15 lbs Coton De Tulear he was surrender to us with his AKC paperwork
while in our care he’s being neutered microchipped current on all vaccines and heartworm prevention

Here’s what we know about this little guy so far:

- He is potty trained
- Velcro dog with some minor separation anxiety
- Knows the command “go find a toy” and he will go grab you the nearest toy happily to tug.
- He expects a treat after he goes outside
- Good recall but doesn’t respond to any specific name yet. “Puppy” works.
- Curious about cats, but respectful when the kitty is over his investigation and swats him.
- Good with all dogs he has met here of all ages and sizes.
- Walks well on a leash

Now for the not so good things he needs help with:

- marking because he is not neutered. Belly bands prevent a mess until then. He is good for putting them on and understands
- He will escalate to aggression only with humans if you correct his growling in any way. This means, if he is growling at a human and you say “no” he is going to lunge and it is red zone. Not a corrective tone back or a weak response. It is everything he has and he has bitten twice now.
- He also will high prize resource guard. Only seen with humans not other animals at this point.
- he knows if he is bad, to go to his crate. He gets further aggressive any time you ask him to go to his crate and move to shut the door. He is completely okay if you don’t shut the door. I feed him in there and ask him to go in and out with no issues unless I reach for the door. He will bite your hand or try. Once he gets aggressive he stays aggressive for about 1 minute and he is back to being sweet and lovely.
