Before Feather was ready to find a home of her own, she had one very important job to do: raise four puppies.
This adorable 1-2 year old, 16-pound Corgi-Chi mix arrived at DPS from the shelter pregnant and soon welcomed four little ones into the world. She took motherhood seriously, proving herself to be a devoted, attentive, and loving mama. Now that her puppies are growing up and finding families of their own, it's finally Feather's turn to be someone's baby. She's a cuddly little dog who loves attention and isn't above gently grabbing your hand when she believes you're overdue for scritches.
Play Hard, Nap Hard
Feather starts her mornings around 8 AM with a trip outside to potty, play, and enjoy some fresh air. After breakfast, she spends her day alternating between bursts of activity and well-earned naps.
She loves having access to a yard where she can romp around, investigate the world, and burn off some energy. When she's indoors, she's happy to relax, but don't mistake her for a couch potato. Feather is an energetic young dog who enjoys staying busy and engaging with her people.
One of her favorite activities is playing tug with toys, and she's always ready for a game when the opportunity presents itself.
By evening, after dinner and some more playtime, she's ready to settle in for the night. Rather than sleeping in a crate, Feather has chosen the sofa as her preferred sleeping arrangement and seems quite pleased with that decision.
A Heart Full of Love
The thing that stands out most about Feather is how deeply she loves.
She adored raising her puppies and took her job as their mom very seriously. Her puppies may be growing up, but Feather still has plenty of love left to give— and she's ready to devote that affection to a forever family.
Smart, Spirited, and Full of Personality
Feather is house-trained and familiar with potty pads. She's a clever little dog with plenty of personality packed into her compact frame.
Like many smart dogs, she occasionally finds ways to entertain herself. If paper is left within reach, she may decide it's a perfectly acceptable toy.
Looking for an Active Family
Feather's ideal home is one that embraces her playful spirit and enjoys interacting with an energetic young dog.
She would likely thrive with people who want a companion for games, adventures, backyard fun, and plenty of affection. While she's happy to relax after playtime, she's not looking for a life of endless naps. She wants to participate in the action.
Most of all, Feather is looking for a family that will appreciate both sides of her personality: the devoted sweetheart who loves deeply and the playful goofball who still approaches life with puppy-like enthusiasm.
