Meet Ryman đ€
Ryman is a handsome Cockapoo with a story that truly tugs at your heart. He was originally adopted from our program back in May of 2018 when he was just about a year old, and has been loved ever since. Unfortunately, Ryman's original adopter is battling stage four breast cancer that has spread to her stomach, bones, and skin. As such, she was no longer able to care for herself or Ryman and she needed to move out of state to live with family. As much as she loved Ryman she was heartbroken that she could not take him with her or provide the care he needs.
Ryman is back with us now in temporary foster care. He has been well loved and kept up to date on his vaccines, but he does have a cherry eye in his left eye and he's scheduled for surgery on June 24th with our vet. However, he can still be adopted at this time - we will just coordinate with the adopter for his appointment.Â
Ryman is a very sweet boy who craves attention and loves being around people. He especially enjoys having his back and belly rubbed, and one of his favorite things is playing fetch with a tennis ball â heâs great about bringing it right back! Even if you simply sit in a chair and toss the ball for him once a day, heâs perfectly content and happy.
Ryman does not particularly enjoy being around other dogs, aside from Missy, the dog he previously lived with in his former adoptive home. He may bark at unfamiliar dogs, so he would do best as the only pet. While he loves people, we recommend a home without small children, as he is not accustomed to young kids, their fast movements, or the unpredictability that can come with them.
He would do best with a fenced yard since he absolutely loves playing fetch and has become very accustomed to having that space in his temporary foster home. He also enjoys walks, though he can pull a bit when excited.
Ryman is both house-trained and crate-trained.
Completing an adoption application is the first step in our process đŸÂ
STEPS TO ADOPT:
Read the adoptableâs bio below, including their adoption fee
Go to RARErescue.org and Read our ADOPTION PROCESS page under the "Adopt" sectionÂ
Complete the  DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM (located on our website RARErescue.org)
We understand that it is important to you to find the right fit for your family. We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIREDÂ for this reason.Â
All of our Adoptables are:
Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption
BREEDS:Â We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.
Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.
***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
