Pecos Pete
WANTED: One permanent homestead for a small but highly accomplished outlaw.
Pecos Pete. Age: 2-ish. Size: Chihuahua, though spiritually he takes up far more square footage.
His record is extensive: grand theft attention, illegal levels of charm, and a pattern of quietly inserting himself into your life until you cannot remember how things functioned before him. He has never been caught, largely because no one has tried very hard.
Pete does not arrive loudly. No dramatic entrances, no unnecessary theatrics. He steps into a space like he already owns it, and somehow... he does. Chairs feel more comfortable. The air feels softer. You find yourself adjusting your entire evening around him with alarming ease.
Affection, but make it intentional. He's not climbing all over you demanding it-he's offering it like a well-negotiated agreement. A lean against your leg. A look that lingers just long enough to feel personal. Suddenly you're in deep, and he hasn't broken a sweat.
He's sweet, undeniably, but there's a wit to him. A knowingness. Like he's aware of exactly what he's doing and has decided you're worth the effort. It's flattering. It's effective. It's... a little unfair, honestly.
House training? Consider it a skill he's familiar with and ready to revisit. With consistency and a solid routine, he'll be right back in form.
Pecos Pete isn't chaotic. He isn't here to test your patience or your furniture.
He is composed. Charming. Efficient.
Some dogs ask for your attention.
Some dogs demand it.
Pecos Pete simply collects it-and leaves you wondering how you ever lived unclaimed.
