Foster to adopt home needed!
Jeepers Creepers Where'd She Get Them Teefers!?
River is the final Chihuahua we took in from the Sandy Creek hoarding case. She is a sweet and sassy girl that gets along well with the like sized dogs and cats in her foster home.
This ~2-3 year old, 11# Chihuahua has the most adorable little monkey face and her antics will keep you laughing. Weather it's carrying shoes up on the couch, wrestling with the cats or trying to get your attention by nipping at your pantlegs or jumping on the back of your calfs, River is the life of the party around here. Her match.com profile would say she likes dog toys, zoomoes, lap sitting and getting deep under the covers at night as if she's on a frozen expedition to Mt Everest trying to hide from the elements. No matter what you are planning, River will be there by your side once she has a bit of time to settle in.
We are still working on housebreaking, but River is crate trained and uses wee pads pretty well indoors. She likes to run with the pack outisde in the fenced yard and is a real joy to be around for an active Chihuahuha household. She is a bit mouthy wanting to chew on hands and pantlegs if she feels neglected, but with a little time and patience we are sure she can be broken of these puppy antics. Unfortunately, we think River has had some no-so-good things happen to her, as well, and she will will cover and flinch if you cone towards her too quickly or if you waive your hands near her. With the right soft touch, though, this little girl will melt your heart
River just wants to be loved and whatever attention cast her way is cherished by her.
If you may be looking for a sweet little clown to keep your heart smiling, do a little dance or just be free, River needs you as much as you need her!
Due to her small size and previous history, foster or foster to adopt requirements are:
-Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. DUE TO HER PREVIOUS HISTORY, WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO HER HOMES WITHOUT A VERIFIABLE VETERINARY HISTORY
-Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams for continued vet care if needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established.
-She does well with likesized dogs and cats in her foster home
-Homes with children over 13 years old should be ok due to her current small size and energy levels.
-Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
-Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
-A fenced yard would be best but is not required as long as leash walking or a tether will be provided.
An adoption donation of $450 is being asked for if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. She had her initial vet check, is current on vaccines and flea/tick preventative, she has been spayed and had a dental cleaning, too.
Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!
