Foster or Foster to Adopt Home Needed!
Meet Maggie, one of our our newest local intakes who needs a place to get out her zoomies, let her fears subside and realize that she is safe. Do you have a little extra room on your sofa for a sweet new addition?
Maggie is a sweet, scruffy, 18# ball of sass, we believe to be just over a year old and possibly a Cairn Terrier mix. She is a bit shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she is bouncy, waggy, happy and wanting any attention cast her way. Maggie is a true terrier and she bosses the little dogs around a bit, even pulling Luke by his harness and steering him around the playpen. She would likley do best with more playful dogs rather then those more sedentary.
Maggie is working on housebreaking and training. She likes praise for attention, but is also interested in sights, sounds and any other distraction she finds so letting her get out her zoomies before working on training works best.
Once she knows you, Maggie can be pretty feisty so an active person may be best to keep her busy. If you're a fan of walking or playing in the yard she may be your new best friend!
She had her initial vet visit, vaccines, 4dx tests and flea/ tick treatment. She has also been spayed now.
Due to her small size, breed and temperament, foster or foster to adopt requirements are:
-Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY for puppies or pets, that need continued vetting. Once they have been vetted, up to a 150 mile radius is acceptable.
-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
-She came from a home with other dogs but may play too rough for most cats despite having them in her previous home.
-Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams if additional care is needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established.
-Homes with children over 12 years old should be ok due to her current size and temperament.
-Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match.
-Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
-Maggie would do best with a fenced yard.
An adoption donation of $450 is being asked if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free!
