Black Labrador Retriever Dogs Available for Adoption in Ramona, California

MARTINI

Black Labrador Retriever
🇺🇸
Ramona, California
April 24th
female, large, senior

DESCRIPTION

Seven-year-old Martini arrived at San Jacinto Valley Animal Shelter as a stray. She was originally adopted from the shelter as a puppy in 2019, but heartbreakingly, no one came to reclaim her. Now, Martini is waiting for a true forever home - one where she will be loved, valued, and cherished as part of the family.

Martini is currently on an amazing two-week Frosted Fling, and she is blossoming in a loving home! Here's the latest update from her foster mom: "Martini continues to be a perfect house guest and is gaining confidence with meeting new people and going to new places every day. She is a wiggle queen! I don't think her butt could shake any faster when she's feeling happy! Martini is down 11 lbs. and can now go up and down a few stairs without hesitation and no longer needs a boost to get in the car. She can walk 1.25-1.5 miles a day. Here's what else we've learned about Martini:
* Potty trained and will ask to go out when she needs
* Loves her crate and generally loves having 'her place'. Blanket on the floor? Towel on the sofa? Her place. She's very good about being redirected to 'her place'.
* Saying "Let's go" to her means she'll follow you anywhere
* Perfect lady in the car
* Non-reactive towards cats
* She met some kiddos (ages 2 and 5) and seemed a-okay with them
* Extremely polite on leash; she encountered a VERY loud and excited puppy at the horse farm, and while she wagged her tail, otherwise non-reactive

Martini did great on her Big Bear Lake vacation! We spent time in the fenced backyard, enjoying the adjacent nature preserve meadow and the plethora of chipmunks, tree squirrels, and birds. She's a quiet observer--no barking or chasing here. Martini enjoyed dining out on dog-friendly patios, visiting breweries and meeting nice ladies, and taking walks along the lake. Other dogs see her and bark or cause a ruckus? This chill girl is UNBOTHERED. Martini was also a total gem for our paddleboard adventure. She even enjoyed walking along the shore in the water up to her belly. Most of all, though, she enjoyed the bath that followed. Girl LOVES a scrub! She was was a perfect lady during the whole process, including having her nails trimmed. If you're looking for a pup who loves being your adventure AND sofa buddy, Martini would love to meet you!"
