MONA

Bichon Frise
May 29th
female, small, adult

DESCRIPTION

Meet Mona!

Age: 3 Years
Weight: 12 lbs
Breed: Bichon Frise mix (best guess)

Mona's story is one that is unfortunately all too common — neglected, uncomfortable, and forgotten until rescue stepped in. This sweet little girl was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter in heartbreaking condition, painfully matted and severely overgrown to the point that she required a sedated shave-down just to bring her relief. It's hard to even know what Mona's coat is truly supposed to look like beneath all the neglect she endured, but one thing is certain: underneath it all was an incredibly gentle and loving soul.

Despite everything she has been through, Mona has remained a quiet, sweet-natured little dog who simply wants to be close to her people. She has a calm and comforting presence about her and would thrive in a quieter home where she can finally relax and enjoy the life she has always deserved. Mona would do best in an adult-only home where things are predictable, peaceful, and low stress.

This adorable girl is happiest lounging on the couch beside her people or curling up in bed at night. She forms close bonds with her humans and prefers to be with them whenever possible. Mona has demonstrated a very good understanding of house manners and is crate trained, although she does not require crating when left alone. She walks nicely on a leash and enjoys calmly exploring the world by your side.

While Mona may be quiet and gentle most of the time, she does have an absolutely adorable silly side when she gets excited. She does the cutest little side-step dance and wags her entire body with happiness when she is feeling loved and comfortable. It's impossible not to smile watching her tiny happy wiggles.

Because of the condition she arrived in, Mona's future family must be committed to keeping her coat properly maintained and ensuring she receives regular professional grooming throughout her life. No dog deserves to suffer in the painful condition Mona was forced to endure, and her new family will need to make grooming a priority moving forward.

Mona is looking for a soft place to land — a calm, loving family that will cherish her, spoil her with cozy naps and affection, and make sure she never experiences neglect again. In return, she will offer unwavering companionship, quiet loyalty, and endless full-body tail wags.

Mona is ready to find the family that will love her furever.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
