Zephyr came from the Ridglan Farms breeding facility, where he spent the beginning of his life without the normal experiences most dogs grow up with. Everything about being a family dog is still fairly new to him, and like many dogs from these situations, his progress comes with a mix of good days and harder days. But overall, he is doing well and continues to learn more about the world around him every day.

Around here, we jokingly call Zephyr "the old guy." Compared to some of the younger puppies in foster care, he just carries himself like he has seen a little more of life. He is a bit more thoughtful, a little more independent, and more sure of himself in certain ways. We cannot confidently guess his exact age, but he still has plenty of playful energy and curiosity.

One of the biggest bright spots for Zephyr has been other dogs. He has especially bonded with our foster puppy, Faby, and the two quickly became best friends. Watching him relax and play alongside another dog has been really sweet to see. So we would like to see him adopted to a place where he will have another dog living with him.

Zephyr is still very nervous around people and has not fully adjusted to living inside a home yet. He tends to keep his distance and prefers moving at his own pace, which is understandable given his background. He will need a patient family that can give him time, consistency, and space to continue building confidence.

His favorite place by far is the backyard. Outside is where his goofy personality really starts to shine. One of Zephyr's favorite activities is rolling around in the grass, completely content just laying under the open sky. If you look outside and see a beagle happily wriggling around in the yard for no reason at all, it is probably him. To help him continue this favorite pastime in a safe structure, we ask that his new home has a fenced-in yard.

Zephyr may still be figuring out people and home life, but there is something really special about watching him slowly settle in and discover simple joys for the very first time.
