DESCRIPTION
Hi! My name is Nighthawk!
Nighthawk, or "Pigeon" to his foster family, is a gentle, sensitive soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. This very shy little guy prefers to observe from a distance and has shown only limited interest in human interaction so far. While he is not currently seeking affection or attention from people, he is incredibly tolerant and cooperative with handling and care. Baths, nail trims, medications, and other husbandry needs are all things he quietly allows, even when he's unsure. Pigeon will need a patient, understanding home committed to moving at his pace and celebrating the small victories as he learns to trust.
What brings Pigeon comfort is other dogs. He enjoys canine companionship and looks to confident dogs for reassurance, so he will require a resident dog in his adoptive home. His ideal canine companion would be calm, confident, and respectful - not overly pushy or energetic. Pigeon is currently reliable with potty pads indoors, though he has not yet begun pottying outside. Because leash walking is still very scary and unfamiliar for him, we believe he would thrive in a home with a fully fenced yard where he can safely explore, build confidence, and slowly discover how to simply be a dog. We also think he would thrive best in a quiet, calm neighborhood where he can feel safe and avoid becoming overwhelmed by too much activity or noise. With time, patience, and the right environment, Pigeon has the potential to continue blossoming into a happier and more secure companion.
