Jimmy Carter - Beagle Dog for Adoption in Midlothian, Virginia

(The good part): Meet Jimmy Carter, a 25 pound, 3-4 year old beagle. Jimmy currently lives with three children, ages 10, 12, and 15, and he absolutely adores them. He seeks them out for snuggles whenever he gets the chance. When he settles in beside them, he melts into a classic "beagle puddle" with his belly up, ears flopped out, and big adoring eyes asking for belly rubs and kisses. Jimmy always wants to be where his people are and greets the kids with pure excitement whenever they return home. He is incredibly gentle with both children and adults and thrives on companionship.

Jimmy Carter has a fairly low energy level and an easygoing personality. While he enjoys going for walks and exploring the world through his nose, he's just as content curling up in your lap for a nap. He is a go-with-the-flow dog. Whether you're giving him a bath, brushing him, or simply relaxing on the couch, Jimmy is happiest just being part of whatever you're doing. He'll happily follow you from room to room, content simply to be nearby. Toys aren't really his thing, but he does enjoy chewing on a nylon bone while lounging beside his favorite people. For Jimmy, happiness is simple: love, companionship, and a cozy place near his family.

Jimmy knows his name and understands several commands, including come, sit (though he occasionally shows a little beagle stubbornness!), down, and out. He follows routines exceptionally well. Show him his harness, and he'll sit patiently. Pick up his food bowl, and he'll head straight to his crate. If the other dogs are doing something, Jimmy is usually right behind them.

Jimmy Carter enjoys two walks a day, and like any true beagle, his nose is to the ground. He zig-zags from scent to scent, determined to investigate every interesting smell along the way. In fact, we've joked that we should have named him "Zig-Zag!" Despite his enthusiasm for sniffing, he's easy to redirect and enjoys exploring with his person by his side. With a little continued training, he'll only get better on leash.
