Available soon: Lovely Gypsy Marie found herself surrendered to NCCR on 5/29/26, given up to give her the best chance at a happy life with a family who can provide appropriate care for her. She is an approximately 2-year-old female Australian Shepherd mix, weighing about 52 lbs. Gypsy is house trained and knows basic commands. She LOVES people and is friendly with pretty much everyone, including children. She gets along well with most other friendly dogs, too. Her only “fault” was that she would chew through her tie-out and run around when left alone outdoors. A fenced yard is recommended.
She is an active, energetic working breed who will require an outlet for her natural instincts – exercise, “brain games,” training, and a job to do will allow her to be fulfilled and happy. If you enjoy having a dog that’s nearly as smart as you are, and have the ability & willingness to provide a life of enrichment and companionship for this very special girl, she can’t wait to meet you! Gypsy will be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption.
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
