Hi! My new name is Peter Parker! I had to change it because I needed to be in the witness protection program. Just kidding, I needed a name that brings a certain image to your mind when you see it. A name that will make you want to adopt me because you're missing the kind of serious comedy, active love, and calm sensitivity I will bring into your life.
Peter Parker is full of life and joy! He is looking for his forever person to share in lifes adventures: beach trips, forest hikes, jeep rides, yard games like jolly-ball or romps in the kiddie pool, or water fights with the garden hose. This boy knows how to have fun! But he also has a great off switch so after youve enjoyed some playtime, he will happily turn into your evening porch swing buddy, after dinner couch potato snuggle bug, or Netflix marathon partner.
Peter Parker is a big boy at almost 70 pounds, but he is just a giant baby. He is not quite two years old. His foster family has been teaching him many life skills to set him up for success in his forever home. He has great house manners, is totally potty trained, crate trained, and very handler focused. He loves to go for car rides and is an excellent copilot. Peter Parker is eager to please and is motivated by both treats and toys, so very easy to teach new things. Perhaps youd like to do some dog sports with him - obedience, nose-work, herding, etc.
Peter Parker has lived with dogs and dog-savvy cats. He doesnt have experience around children but we suspect he would enjoy the company of older kids who could play fetch with him. Younger kids might be too easily overwhelmed by his exuberant play style though.
Peter Parker bonds quickly to his person but like most herding breed dogs is a little hesitant with strangers at first. However, with gentle introductions, he really enjoys making friends. He can be a little overwhelmed in loud, chaotic, rowdy, or busy urban settings, but with repeated positive experiences, accompanied by his patient handler, and maybe with the help of a calm, canine sibling, he may gain confidence in those types of atmospheres.
We think Parker is a mix of Australian Shepherd or maybe English Shepherd, given his size. He may even have a little Pyrenees in him, judging by his even temperament. He very much enjoys patrolling his large fenced yard, chasing away birds and critters who dont belong. He likes to keep a tight friend group but those who know and love him think he is the sweetest guy.
Peter Parker is currently being fostered near Yakima, WA but we are open to fielding applicants anywhere in the Pacific NW. We have volunteer drivers who would happily meet you part way. His foster mom would love to chat about her experience with him and maybe even FaceTime if an approved applicant is interested in learning more.
If you are interested in adopting Peter Parker, please fill out the application on our website at: https://www.westernaustralianshepherdrescue.com/adoption-application.html.
We schedule meet n greets after a completed application which includes a home visit and reference checks.
