HELEN IS CURRENTLY FOSTERED NEAR WATERLOO, IOWA.

Helen was rescued from a difficult situation by a young couple who wanted to ensure she found the right home. Realizing she would benefit from rescue support, they reached out to us so Helen could safely find a family prepared to meet her needs.

Helen is a loving, outgoing, and incredibly friendly Australian Shepherd who truly wants to be everyone’s best friend. She adores people, children, other dogs, and even cats. Helen is potty trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She knows “sit” using hand signals and is very attentive to visual cues. She loves cuddling, playing, and especially riding in golf carts—one of her favorite activities! Helen is deaf, but that does not slow her down one bit. She is smart, adaptable, and eager to connect with her people.

Helen is a double merle Australian Shepherd, which means there is a possibility she could experience vision changes later in life. At this time, she sees well, though she may occasionally miss things below her line of sight. She will come with protective goggles that her foster is helping her get used to wearing outdoors. Helen’s ideal adopter will understand her special needs and be committed to continuing to communicate with her using hand signals and consistency.

Helen will be spayed prior to adoption and is up to date on vaccinations, on monthly preventative, dewormed, and microchipped. She is heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $450.
