Introducing Ruby!

Ruby’s story started at one of the highest kill shelter in Houston. When we found her, she was emaciated, full of milk, and looking completely defeated. Added to the euthanasia list after only a few days, we knew we couldn’t let her journey end there and we are so thankful a wonder family stepped in to foster her because Ruby is pure perfection.

You will never meet a more relaxed Cattle Dog in your life. Seriously, ever. Ruby is an old soul who far prefers comfort and cuddles over high intensity athleticism. If you’re looking for a hiking buddy to scale mountain peaks, she’ll politely pass. However, if you want a loyal, cuddly shadow to follow you around the house, she’s your girl. She walks just fine on leash but a lap or two around the neighborhood and she's good.

Ruby is fully house trained and hasn’t needed a kennel because she’s not destructive; once she curls up on her bed at night, she’s out for the count. Her only "non-negotiables" for a forever home? A plush donut bed and a spot on the couch next to you.

Ruby has been fostered with dogs, kids, and cats and she loves them all. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. When her four year old foster brother leans on her to cuddle, she doesn't move an inch, just wearing a sweet smile that says, "This is the good stuff."

Two different vets have estimated Ruby is around 3 years old. She currently weighs about 35 lbs but is still working on reaching her goal weight. In the interest of full transparency: this sweet girl likely had litters of puppies every few months of her life, resulting in a saggy undercarriage. It’s shrinking every day, but more importantly, her charming personality 100% outweighs any physical "imperfections."

Ruby is finishing up her heartworm treatment and will be ready to transport to her forever home in mid-May. She is truly the easiest, most loving gal around. Whoever adopts her will be hitting the rescue dog jackpot, she is impossible not to love.

Adoption Fee: $600 (Includes transport costs). Ruby is also fully vaccinated, on prevention, microchipped, and spayed.
