Meet Rex!!
If you know Heelers, you already know Rex is the full package. Smart, athletic, loyal, and just the right amount of mischief to keep life entertaining.
Rex's story begins the way far too many in Texas do. His family was moving and just let him behind in the house. So he was literally left to figure out the world by himself at far too young an age. Thankfully, his luck changed when his foster mom stepped in, and now he's safe, thriving, and searching for the forever family he deserves.
At just 5 months old, Rex is everything you'd expect from a young Cattle Dog: energetic, intelligent, eager to learn, and always ready for the next adventure. He's looking for an active home that understands the needs of his breed and is excited to help him grow into the amazing dog he's destined to be.
Rex loves having a job, or at least thinking he has one. Whether it's hiking, playing fetch, learning new tricks, exploring the neighborhood, or simply following his favorite humans around the house, he's happiest when he's involved. He's incredibly people oriented and forms strong bonds with his family quickly. Once you're his person, expect a loyal shadow who wants to be part of everything you do.
Like many puppies who haven't had much structure early in life, Rex is still learning the ins and outs of house living. He's making great progress and will continue to thrive with consistency, routine, and positive reinforcement. He's a bright boy who picks things up quickly and is highly food motivated, making training both rewarding and fun.
Rex walks nicely on leash and would love an active lifestyle that keeps both his body and mind engaged. He could excel in hiking, running, agility, obedience work, or any activity that allows him to use his intelligence and athleticism.
Rex is dog-friendly and enjoys having canine friends to play with. He would do especially well with another playful dog who can help burn off some puppy energy or at least the opportunity to socialize with other dogs. When the day is done, this sweet boy is all about affection and cuddles. We do not know how he is with cats.
Rex is estimated to be 5 months old and weighs 26lbs. If you're looking for a smart, devoted companion who is ready to take on life's adventures by your side, Rex may be your perfect match.
