If there was ever a puppy built specifically to make people say oh my gosh, look at him, its Soldier Boy. Between his adorable puppy breath, his endless kisses, his sweet little face, and his habit of curling up under your desk just to be close to you, this boy has mastered the art of stealing hearts. Hes one of those puppies who somehow manages to be playful and silly one minute, then peacefully snoozing at your feet the next. Whether hes carrying around a toy, trying to convince you to play tug, or simply following you around because he wants to be near his people, Soldier Boy has a way of making every day a little brighter.

Soldier Boy is approximately 2 months old, weighs around 10 lbs, and we believe he may be an Australian Cattle Dog mix with possibly some Great Pyrenees in the mix as well. Those adorable double dew claws are often seen in Great Pyrenees breeds, but with rescue its always a mystery and we can never guarantee breed. What we can tell you is that this handsome boy has the potential to grow into a pretty big dog.
One of our favorite things about Soldier Boy is how surprisingly laid back he is for a puppy. Don't get us wrong, he still has plenty of playful puppy moments, but hes not the nonstop chaos machine some puppies can be. He loves hanging out with his people and will happily curl up under a desk while you work from home, taking naps throughout the day before waking up ready for his next adventure. He is incredibly people-oriented and doesn't know a stranger. Everyone is a friend in Soldier Boys world.
Hes also wonderfully gentle and has potential to be a great dog for a family with kids and has not shown the typical puppy nipping behavior. Now, chasing feet because they look fun? That's another story. He thinks moving feet are an invitation to play, but its all part of his goofy puppy charm. When hes not busy collecting pets and kisses, you'll usually find him playing with toys, entertaining himself, or challenging someone to a game of tug. Hes recently discovered how fun tug can be and has decided its one of his favorite activities. He loves toys of all kinds and does an impressive job keeping himself occupied. For a puppy, hes also not much of a chewer, which his foster greatly appreciates.
Soldier Boy is a smart little guy too. Hes very food motivated, loves Milk-Bones, and already knows how to sit on command when he isnt too excited about the treat in front of him. Puzzle toys and snuffle mats dont stand a chance against him because he figures them out in record time. He is currently being fostered in a home with two large breed dogs and absolutely loves having canine companions around. Whether he's playing a game of tug-of-war, romping around the yard, or curling up next to his foster siblings for a nap. One of the biggest benefits of being raised in a foster home with adult dogs is that he's learning important social skills every day. From reading body language to understanding appropriate play styles, his foster siblings are helping teach him how to be a well-mannered canine companion. He's social, playful, and enjoys the company of other dogs, making him a great fit for a home looking to add a puppy as a companion and playmate for your personal dog(s).
Like any young puppy, Soldier Boy is still learning the ropes when it comes to potty training and crate training. Hes doing very well when hes taken outside consistently and is trying hard to figure out where hes supposed to go. He has started sleeping through the night in his kennel, although he may fuss a little before settling down. Hes making great progress, but his future family should be prepared to continue working on potty training, crate training, socialization, and all the other important parts of raising a well-rounded puppy.
There is one thing you should know about Soldier Boy though... this boy believes the day should start EARLY. Very early. If youve been looking for an alternative to an alarm clock, Soldier Boy has you covered. He is quite vocal when hes ready to start his day and would like everyone else to get moving too. In Soldier Boys opinion, 6 a.m. is sleeping in. Because he can be vocal when left alone, an apartment may not be the best fit if he will be spending long periods of time by himself. He has a big bark, an impressive howl, and absolutely no hesitation about sharing his opinions when he has them. When he does share his opinions and talks to you, the cutest thing happens with his ears LOL. Hell toss his head back, let his voice be heard and his little ears follow along and flop back too. Its hard to explain but its adorable.
Soldier Boy is sweet, affectionate, playful, smart, and full of potential. Most importantly, he has the kind of loving personality that makes puppies so special. His puppy breath is perfection, his kisses are endless, and he is ready to find a family to call his own.
