Meet Mung Bean, a 6-year-old, 102-pound Akita with a classic personality to match. Mung Bean spent several years as a stud dog for Lancaster breeder before coming into rescue, and like many dogs from that background, he's still learning what life as a beloved pet looks like.

True to his breed, Mung Bean can be a bit aloof at first. When we initially met him at the breeder, he was surprisingly social and friendly with his transporter, but the transition into the rescue environment made him understandably nervous. Since then, we have been giving him the space, patience, and respect he needs, meeting him where he is and allowing his confidence to grow at his own pace. With time and consistency, he's shown us that he's a good boy who wants to connect, just in his own way.

Mung Bean is looking for an experienced home that understands the Akita mindset and can continue to guide him with calm, confident handling. He will do best in an adult-only home, and dog meets will be required to ensure the right fit.

A quick (and slightly fluffy) note- shedding season hit Mung Bean hard! We're working through his coat slowly and gently so as not to overwhelm him, helping him feel comfortable every step of the way.

Mung Bean may not be the type to wear his heart on his sleeve right away, but for the right person, he has the potential to be a deeply loyal and rewarding companion.

He will come neutered, vaccinated, 4dx tested and microchipped.
