DESCRIPTION
05/01/26 18:27 Patient in need of rescue FINAL with a review date of 05/08/26 04/29/26 On 5 day recheck, the eye is less exophthalmic (bulding) suggesting resolving abscessation/cellulitis under the eye. However, the jaw still does not close properly -- there is, therefore, higher concern for TMJ joint luxation or trauma on the left side of the face contributing to difficulty closing the mouth properly, and consultation with a veterinary maxillofacial surgeon (veterinary dentist) is highly recommended to review skull radiographs that were taken at the shelter/see if further surgical intervention is required/indicated. 04/24/26 Friendly M intact scottish fold who was found stray and brought to shelter on **4/24/26** - on examination, he had a necrotic wound inside the mouth (back left side of the mouth, behind molars) with severe gum/tissue swelling around the wound, and mild exophthalmos (bulging out) of left eye likely from infection of the tissues behind/beneath eye, a fractured mandible just inside the left canine tooth. The fracture at the front of the mandible (lower jaw) was stabilized with a wire and he was started on antibiotics and pain medications.
