Onigir came to us in December of 2025 after a desperate plea. She, her mom and sibling were originally taken inside as strays. She's been through 2 previous homes, both in the same family. In those previous 2 homes, she was fine for quite a while and then would attack unprovoked as noted by her previous owners.
In the first home, it seems as though she became agitated when the owner would separate her and her sister when they would squabble.
In her second home, she did not like the owners roommate.
It seems like her triggers may be able to be caught and hopefully avoided. She's doing well in the shelter and she's been nothing but sweet but we want to make sure any potential adopter knows about her history and is cat savvy enough to pick up on her cues. Those cues sound like they were very well communicated.
All of her progress is due to a new behavior modification medication we found that works for her. We put it in her food and we've seen how well it works for her. We would suggest her remaining on this medication for life.
