As one of 10 preemie babies that mama had and didn’t return to, survival wasn’t likely. Several of the babies were only 43g - that's about HALF the size of a typical newborn kitten. They were gummy faced and didn’t have fur on their feet, a clear indication they were indeed prematurely born, if their size didn’t already give it away. They were all named after types of whales, to give them something big to help offset their tiny stature. Despite trying with every available tool we had, Narwhal is the only baby of the Whale Pod who survived, and boy is he thriving! It’s like he’s determined to live enough for all of them! He is rowdy and playful and gets right in there with his new foster friends.
