Tigrena - Domestic Short Hair Cat Available for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Tigrena is a 3-year-old neutered male Domestic Shorthair who was brought to ACCT as an injured stray on 5/13/2026 after reportedly being stuck between the tie rod and axle of an SUV for approximately two and a half hours prior to rescue. On intake, medical staff noted a superficial wound/burn on his right forelimb along with a very greasy hair coat suspected to contain motor oil residue. Tigrena received wound cleaning, antibiotics, pain management, gabapentin, parasite prevention, and ongoing monitoring of the injury site.

At his most recent medical recheck, the wound on his right forelimb was healing appropriately with a thick scab present and no signs of swelling, discharge, or inflammation. Medical staff removed his e-collar to allow normal grooming behavior and plan to continue monitoring the wound closely as healing progresses. Additional debridement or medical intervention may be considered if healing slows or stagnates. Tigrena is currently approved for foster placement while he continues recovering and remains rescue/foster only at this time.

Behaviorally, Tigrena has presented as nervous but non-aggressive in the shelter environment. He benefits from slow, low-pressure interactions and would likely do best recovering in a calm environment while he continues to decompress and heal.

Staff noted on 5/23 "Tigrena was resting in his kennel when staff approached. Upon opening the kennel door, he became frozen and remained still while observing staff. Staff slowly placed a hand down in the kennel to assess his comfort level and reaction. Tigrena showed no signs of aggression during the interaction, though his pupils were notably dilated and he appeared very nervous. Staff chose to give him space and avoid further interaction at that time in order to not push him past his comfort level."
