DESCRIPTION

My foster writes: Ushi is a shy cat who needs a little time to feel safe in a new home.
At first he may keep some distance, but with patience and quiet companionship he slowly starts coming closer on his own.
He has a few small imperfections.
One ear looks a bit different, there are some spots on his legs without much fur, and sometimes he gets a little eye discharge.
He loves canned food and squeeze treats.
They make it much easier to win his trust.
He also has some very funny habits.
If you pet his lower back his butt pops right up, and if you touch his cheeks he immediately flops onto the floor and melts there to enjoy the attention.
Ushi just needs someone patient and gentle.
Once he feels comfortable, he becomes a very sweet and quietly affectionate companion.

A volunteer writes: We're so glad Ushi is currently warm and safe at the Care Center, and we think he seems pretty pleased as well! Ever since he's come through our doors he's been sweet, calm, curious, and easy to handle, enjoying petting sessions and scarfing down lots of treats. He can sometimes be shy as he sizes up new human faces, but after a quick warm-up he's ready to make friends and enjoy the affection and interaction. Our behavior team can vouch for his comfort with people and generally chill demeanor, deeming Ushi to be a good fit for almost all types of households. We don't know what kind of life he had before he came to us, but it's a good bet that this wonderful guy was well socialized with people in a home. Now, he's ready to make the move to yours.

Another volunteer writes:
Ushi(Little Bear in German) was brought to us by the Good Samaritan who was taking care of him for years as an outdoor cat. He had a cold(now resolved)and was quite underweight and being a senior, it was about time for Ushi to find a safe haven for his golden years. Ushi likes to shelter in his cubby but say his name, bring some tasty treats and he will be out in nano seconds.. Ushi is a bit handshy but being a smart kitty, he is slowly easing himself into being an indoor pet. Ushi so deserves a new page in his life, filled with warmth, safety and love. Primary Color: Black Weight: 8.8lbs Age: 10yrs 2mths 3wks Animal has been Neutered
