Columbia is a handsome young Domestic Shorthair, estimated to be 1-2 years old, with a soft grey-and-white coat and a gentle personality. He arrived as a stray alongside another cat, Notre Dame, who may be his littermate, though their history remains a mystery.

Of the two, Columbia is a bit on the shy side at first. He likes to take his time observing the world around him and getting a feel for new people and situations. Once he feels comfortable, though, his sweet nature shines through. He enjoys gentle affection, is curious about what's going on around him, and is surprisingly tolerant of being held.

Columbia has a kind, easygoing demeanor and seems to appreciate a calm approach. He may do well in a home with other cats, provided he is given a slow introduction and plenty of time to adjust.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.
