Ashes is a distinguished 13-year-old gray tabby gentleman who just celebrated his birthday and is ready to spend his golden years in a calm, loving home. This sweet, affectionate boy has a gentle presence and a heart full of love for his people. While he’s not a fan of being picked up or carried, he absolutely thrives on attention—head scratches, soft pets, and simply being near you will make his day.

Ashes would do best as the only pet in the home, as he prefers not to share his space with other cats or dogs. In return, he’ll give you his full devotion. He’s social, friendly with people, and has a calm, easygoing nature that makes him a wonderful companion for a quieter household.

A true connoisseur of relaxation, Ashes enjoys lounging in cozy spots and never turns down a good snack. If you’re looking for a loving, low-key companion who will happily keep you company and fill your home with warmth, Ashes may be your perfect match.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.
