Hi, my name is Asher and I am a black, slim, catnip loving purring machine. I heard that my original owner passed away, but I really don’t know. I do know that I was at the Baltimore Animal Services Division; later, the Fancy Cats and Dogs Rescue Team brought me to Northern Virginia. In the midst of this, I was attacked by another cat and that traumatized me. Luckily for me, the Team placed lme with a human foster and things are looking pretty good now. Sadly, she cannot keep me because her large dog is not friendly to strangers. The human keeps me in her laundry room, perhaps she thought I would help her with the never ending wash; instead, I started sleeping on her ironing board in spite of the comfy bed she has prepared for me.
I like to play with toy mice and a homemade toy containing catnip. The human quickly learned that I love chin and cheeks rubs, being brushed and being picked up for a little bit for some nice snuggles. When she comes to my room I greet her with purrs, chirps and a high tail. I am happy to see her whether she is going to feed me or not. I just like to hang out with her. I went from being a scared cat that would not leave the cat carrier, to owning the laundry room, and hanging out with the human and her son who also likes me. I am not even scared of the vacuum cleaner, by the way.
What am I looking for? I would love a calm home where humans understand that I need some time to get used to the. I remind humans that I need some space with gentle bites, but I love to be around them, and I know that my sweet purrs and headbutts would make a home a happier place.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit: https://fancycats.org/volunteer
