Meet Spike, born approximately August of 2019. Spike was spotted by concerned neighbors who noticed that he was covered in jumping cholla nearby a nature reserve. He was injured by the cactus while also having to defend himself from predators, but his foster mom was able to trap him after 3 weeks of him roaming the desert and avoiding capture.
He now lives a life of wet food galore with a full tummy (he doesn’t have any teeth left so he prefers wet food 2x a day) and is looking for a quiet, peaceful family to call his. He is a very vocal kitty, super sweet and affectionate, and follows his foster mom everywhere. He is the perfect lap kitty who just wants to be loved. He does not get along with other animals and needs to be the only pet at home. He also does not do well with young children as loud noises and sudden movements can spook him (who can blame him though after his ordeal). He will need a special home to call his. ***He has been diagnosed with chronic stomatitis. He has had all teeth pulled but still has frequent flare ups, for which he needs steroid shots every 3 - 4 days when the flare ups occur. His new family will need to be experienced former cat owners who are able to administer the steroid shots when needed.*** Spike is up to date on vaccines including rabies, tested negative for FELV/FIV, dewormed, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $80.
